– Government to sell off its NHS recruitment agency

The Department of Health (DoH) plans to sell off its recruitment agency ‘NHS Professional Ltd’, which is the  largest supplier of temporary workers to the health service and which has approximately 50,000 labourers on its books.

The DoH is encouraging private investors to register interest in buying some or all of the company as it believes that private sector involvement will enable staff to be contracted out to public bodies at a considerably cheaper rate than the company currently offers.

  1. This is stupid. How can staff be contracted out to PUBLIC bodies cheaper through private involvement?

    Surely, “NHS Professional Ltd” has a guaranteed acceptance relationship with the NHS.

    If they are talking primarily about that company’s overheads: if they had the common sense to leech on the larger NHS purchasing power it would bring costs down.
