The Big Society agenda is one of the most prominent flagship policies that is currently being pushed by the government, yet over 50 per cent of people are unaware of this initiative (Ipsos MORI, – commissioned by The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce).
Key results from the survey show that:
- 55% of people have not heard of the government’s flagship Big Society policy;
- 57% think that it is just an excuse for the government to save money by cutting back on public services.
- 54% of people think that it is a good concept but do not believe that it will work in practice; and
