– BBC Panorama – workers paid less than minimum wage

As the adult rate rises to £6.08 an hour, Panorama goes undercover to reveal how some employers use loopholes or get around the rules so that workers do not always get paid the minimum wage.

Academics at King’s College London have suggested that the numbers of those who do not receive the minimum is particularly rife in the care sector. Dr Shereen Hussein, a social care expert who conducted the research, has estimated that there are between 150,000 to 200,000 care workers over the age of 21 earning less than the statutory minimum.

Panorama: All Work and Low Pay, will tonight be investigating how many employers abuse the system, and talks to people who are being forced to accept low pay just to get work.

Watch tonight (Monday 3rd October) at 20:30 and will then be available in the UK on BBC iPlayer.
