Head of the civil service announced

The future Head of the Civil Service has been announced: Sir Bob Kerslake will take over in 2012.

Following Sir Gus O’Donnell’s departure his roles will be split into three:

Jeremy Heywood will become Cabinet Secretary

Ian Watmore will take over as Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office

Sir Bob Kerslake will become Head of the Civil Service in addition to his current responsibilities as Permanent Secretary, Department for Communities and Local Government
