 ORAL EVIDENCE

Committee to take evidence from the Minister for Employment on the Work Programme

 ——————————————————————————–

Monday 19 March 2012 at the House of Commons (Meeting room to be confirmed)

At 4.30 pm

 Department for Work and Pensions

  • Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, Minister for Employment

This one-off evidence session will follow up the Committee’s July 2011 Report on contracting arrangements for the Government’s new employment scheme, the Work Programme.

The evidence session will provide an opportunity to consider how the programme is operating in practice, following publication of the first set of official statistics on Work Programme referrals and attachments in February. The reasons for and implications of higher than expected total referrals and lower than expected Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) referrals will be considered. The Committee will also examine how the Work Capability Assessment for ESA is operating, and its interaction with the Work Programme.
