Parent’s Job Clubs – a targeted approach to helping parents back to work

As specialist providers on the Work Programme we have developed a new approach to supporting parents: the Parent’s Job club. We now have four groups up and running in London and Wolverhampton.

The groups take place once a week over four weeks – Allowing the parents the time to think about issues and consider new plans of action. We then meet once a month.

We use a mixture of group sessions, one to ones and email support to help parents feel more motivated and in control of their job search.

We provide a specialist Adviser and a range of activities that help parents focus on what they want to do next.

The providers are able to bring in hot jobs to the group and let them know of the latest activities and meet and be with people in a less intense environment than an adviser meeting.

We are finding parents to be more motivated and certainly more aware of their own ability to look for work. We will be following the parents and seeing what happens over the next few months.
