The new Work Capability Assessment excludes people from benefits
The Citizens Advice Bureau is facing greater demands from those who are about to lose their sickness benefits.
The Bureau is warning that more and more people are contacting them after failing the new medical test to receive Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) (ESA is replacing incapacity Benefit). The new Work Capability Assessment requires those asking for benefits to score a minimum of 15 points.
Critics point out that this new system is too restrictive and severe, with the process being impersonal and ill-equipped to judge often complex medical issues.
