Figure released by the ONS today have revealed that the number of British-born workers fell by 208,000 last year while the number of foreign-born workers rose by 212,000.
According to Employment Minister Chris Grayling, these figures show that British workers and graduates are facing a “huge challenge” from older and experienced foreigners when applying for jobs.
In the UK, 1.04 million 16-24 years old are unemployed
It appears that British graduates are lacking of crucial work experience important for employers. But for Phil McCabe, of the Forum of Private Business lobby group, the education system is also to blame as it doesn’t produce “the right level of work-ready young people” and doesn’t provide the right mix of skills that companies need.
