St Mungo's leaves the Work Programme after receiving no referrals

The homeless charity St Mungo’s has announced that it is withdrawing from the Work Programme as they have not received any referrals from the primes they are sub=contracted to.

The charity has written to all three primes which it had arrangements with to  withdraw their involvement in the programme.

Mike McCall, Executive Director of operations at St Mungo’s stated that “we took the decision with regret as we had hoped that by delivering our services through the Work Programme we would be able to assist people who were long-term unemployed and disadvantaged to gain jobs”.

Last month research conducted by the London Voluntary Service Council found that the majority of voluntary sector organisations involved in the Work Programme had no clients referred to them.
