Committee endorses the appointment of Chair of Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC)
The Work and Pensions Committee published its First Report of Session 2012-13, Appointment of the Chair of the Social Security Advisory Committee (HC 297-I), on Friday 22 June 2012 at 10:00am. It is available to download from the Committee’s website.
The Committee held a pre-appointment hearing with the Government’s preferred candidate for the post, Mr Paul Gray, on 20 June. The purpose of the hearing was to assess the candidate’s suitability for the role, including his independence and expertise, and his ability to withstand public and parliamentary scrutiny.
The Committee is pleased to endorse the appointment of Mr Gray to the post of SSAC Chair.
Mr Gray has been the interim Chair of SSAC since November 2011.
