The Skills and Development Agency wins Free school bid

The Skills and Development Agency (S&DA) has been successful in its bid to set up STEM Academy, in Hackney, as part of the Government’s Free School Programme.

The Department for Education informed the Wembley based skills development company of its success on Friday 13th July.

We are of course thrilled with the news. This culminates an 8 month bid process,  and advances our vision of enhancing educational prospects for students from Hackney and the wider London area,” says S&DA CEO Virginie Ramond.

According to the company, STEM Academy will welcome its first students in September 2013.

STEM Academy will offer places to pupils aged 16-19 who are interested in, and demonstrate an aptitude in, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM),” Ramond says.
