Apprenticeship Review Finds System 'Misunderstood and Inaccessible'

The government has promised to introduce a series of measures aimed at helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to recruit apprentices.

This follows the publication of Jewellery entrepreneur Jason Holt’s apprenticeship review, commissioned by the Department of Business Innovation and skills.

The report came to the conclusion that the current system is “misunderstood and inaccessible” and hindered further by organisations who give “conflicting advice”.

His report calls for the creation of better and more consistent messaging about the benefits of apprenticeships both for SMEs and the economy and for plans to help SMEs develop their own training provision.
