Local authorities named to run Universal Credit pilots

Short term pilots will run in 12 Local Authority (LA) areas across England, Scotland and Wales. The local authorities will explore how they can use their expertise to provide local support to future Universal Credit claimants. The year-long LA led pilots programme will look at ways to promote digital inclusion, including accessing the internet and helping people to improve their online skills.

The LAs taking part are:

England:

  • Bath and North East Somerset Council
  • Birmingham City Council
  • London Borough of Lewisham
  • Melton and Rushcliffe Borough Councils partnership
  • North Dorset District Council
  • Oxford City Council
  • West Lindsey District Council.

 Scotland:

  • Dumfries and Galloway Council
  • North Lanarkshire Council
  • West Dunbartonshire Council.

Wales:

  • Caerphilly County Borough Council
  • Newport City Council.
