IDS announces New Work Programme pilot programmes for those on drugs..
Secretary of state for Work and Pensions, Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP has announced help for people with drug and alcohol problems> The aim is to get them back into work.
During a speech to the Kids Company IDS announced two new, payment by results, Work Programme pilot programmes specifically targeted at supporting drug and alcohol addicted claimants into work.
The first programmes is the ‘Recovery Works’ pilot which will test the impact of higher job outcome payments for individuals engaged in drugs treatment. The pilot will give providers a greater financial provision to support addicts into work, rehabilitation and into work. The pilot will be launched in:
- East of England
- West Yorkshire,
The focus will be on helping those who are drug and alcohol dependant ‘to break free from their addiction… using work as a stepping stone to recovery’.
The second programme. the ‘Recovery and Employment’ pilot will seek to combine the existing knowledge of treatment experts, with that of Work Programme providers. The pilot will focus on how to develop improved sharing of skills and resources to deliver better outcomes for addicts. The pilot will run for two sites within the West Midlands.
