– DWP Publishes Flexible New Deal Figures

The delivery figures from the Flexible New Deal (FND) programme have been released by the Department for Work and Pensions.

From its conception in 1998, 3.72 million individuals have started on a New Deal programme up to August 2010. The figures show that over the period between October 2009 and August 2010, 278,500 people joined FND, with 16,240 of these resulting in short job outcomes.

Thus far, 4000 people have gained sustainable employment, which is defined as a job when the participant does not return to New Deal within 13 weeks. This includes jobs in which participants have been employed for less than 13 weeks, but have not yet returned to New Deal.

However, caution must be taken when drawing conclusions from the published official results, as the outcomes for participants should increase exponentially over twelve months. The figures from local authorities have also had to be rounded up over the passed quarter as a result of inaccuracies from regional Job Centre Plus figures. There were also quality issues regarding figures for the New Deal for Disabled People, which have not been published at all.

Serco remain the biggest provider, with their teams in Manchester helping 25, 320 onto FND over the last eleven months. Of this 1, 440 resulted in short job outcomes and 380 in sustainable employment. The new Work Programme delivery results for next year will probably see Serco as the biggest provider again as the forecasted cuts in public sector jobs take hold. The North East and particularly Manchester has a large percentage of employees working in the public sector.

  1. Just as with the old New Deal, Flexible New Deal and it’s replacement The Work Prigramme will be just the same with providers over promising and underdelivering!

  2. I wanted to view a similar post but it shows 404.

Has one of the providers censored you?

  3. Please Note: Some providers hosted interviews for Future Jobs Fund jobs (Government pays for 6 month jobs – which just happens to be classified as “sustainable”) and claimed a job outcome for them.

  4. So just over 5% into jobs is acceptable to DWP? Biggest waste of money I’ve seen in a long time.

  5. Your link seems to have missed out some tabs after the last tab which would shows cumulative breakdown and Max employment top of the league tables.
