Kenndy Scott: Highly Commended in the GO Awards

Tuesday March 13th, Kennedy Scott was awarded highly commended as runner-up in the small to medium category of the Government’s GO Awards. The GO Awards is a showcase of the very best businesses in the public sector.

Kennedy Scott was applauded by the judges for its holistic one-to-one programme supporting clients with multiple and complex barriers to employment; and its collaborative approach, working in partnership with local authorities, specialist providers and charities.

Steve Woolcock, Kennedy Scott’s Managing Director says”

“I am delighted to receive this Award on behalf of all the staff at Kennedy Scott whose passionate belief in their clients is what earned us this commendation. We reach the parts that other welfare to work programmes cannot reach. At the same time as we bridge the client’s skill gap we provide bespoke intensive one-to-one programmes to build self esteem, address depression and help clients believe in their ability to hold down a job. In the pre-employment phase, in addition to skills training, clients are offered a bespoke mix of one-to-one counseling, health and fitness classes, CBT, confidence and motivational training. Once employment is achieved we provide on-going support to clients and employers for as long as it takes.  It can be as simple as making an early morning phone call to a client to check they are out of bed and on time for work, or having a quiet chat over a coffee with the client’s manager to discuss an issue which is undermining the client’s confidence. Resolving a client’s behavioural issues before they start work, and providing timely and effective interventions if there’s a set back, is the key to their success, and ours.”

Kennedy Scott‘s award winning Work Choice programme supports 500 customers in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire with complex and multiple barriers into employment. Its holistic wellness programme includes

  • Occupational therapy
  • Confidence building/motivational coaching techniques to address depression and low self-esteem
  • CBT Counselling
  • Fitness training and 1:1 Pilates sessions

Teresa Scott, Kennedy Scott’s founder and CEO says:

“I am delighted that our team have been given the recognition they deserve in this commendation of their valuable work. More often than not life has dealt our clients a few untimely blows, destroying their own self-belief and confidence. Our teams are trained to provide that belief and re-instil a client’s faith in their own abilities. The programme integrates resources across both the private and third sector. Premises, professional expertise and equipment are shared to provide intensive, highly individual one-to one-support. This model is increasingly recognised as the most effective way to support and mentor the most disadvantaged customers with complex and multiple barriers to employment and social inclusion. The team often work outside office hours, to meet both the needs of the client and the employer and this Award recognises the exceptional lengths we are prepared to go to in order to turn someone’s life around, get them back on track and into work.”
