Half of organisations which left the Work Programme are in the voluntary sector

Employment minister Chris Grayling has announced that 28 organisations left the Work Programme between August and January 2011: over half of these were voluntary sector groups.

15 of the 28 groups have left the Work Programme were third sector organisations. Mr Grayling however also revealed that 26 new organisations had joined the supply chain during the same period, of which 11 were from the voluntary and community sector.

  1. The three terms are in reference to charitable organisations and are in reference to organisations which have charitable status. Sorry for any confusion that this article caused.

  2. In the first paragraph, over half the leavers are described as from voluntary sector groups.
In the second paragraph, 15 of the 28 groups which left were described as third sector organisations and 11 of the new entrants as from the voluntary and community sector.
What are the differences please between the voluntary sector, the third sector and the voluntary and community sector?
