In a report published today, by the Social Market Foundation (SMF) has argued that the UK work force holds the wrong skills which is hindering economic development.
In the report the SMF argues that even during the boom years when the UK enjoyed high levels of employment a significant proportion of the workforce did not have the appropriate skills in the Labour market resulting in many people working in low paid jobs.
The SMF suggests that if greater incentives were given to people to undertake training and courses in skills which were in high demand rather than what the learners found interesting, the UK economy would be more stable and more productive.
